Sims 3: The Deans (part 15)

Antwain is all set to put his plan in motion, when Tania arrives home with plans of her own. “Guess what!  I’m scheduled to do an exposé in France!  My flight leaves in a few hours.”  After that, Antwain cannot hear another word.  His ears are deafened by the sound of his perfect proposal plans crashing and burning.
“Wow…how…exciting.”  Antwain mechanically answers without thinking.

Tania plaints a kiss on his lips assuming that his words are a sincere approval.
Tania goes on and on, happily chirping about what this will mean for her career.
Finally, the question that he was waiting to hear,  “So, is it really OK with you if I go?”  Antwain can tell that her question is just a formality; she’s made up her mind to go hours ago.
Antwain loves Tania too much to spoil her excitement.  “Sure babe.  I wish I could go with you, but I can’t get that much time off work.”  He lies with convincing skill.
“Oh Antwain!  You’re the greatest!” Tania is relieved, “I have to get ready.  I don’t want to miss my flight!”
Tania is thrilled that she didn’t have to make the decision she dreaded…
…while Antwain cannot wait until she leaves, so that he can pick his heart up off the floor discretely.
He pastes on a “happy for you” smile and leaves the room before gravity forces it to fall into a frown betraying his true disappointment in front of Tania.
Tania senses that something is off…
…but chooses to ignore it.  She’ll deal with it when she gets back.
Tania checks the internet to confirm her flight times.
Everything is in order, so she takes a few minutes to send a few “I’ll be away for a while” email messages.
Tania hops into her car and heads toward the airport…
…while Antwain grabs his guitar and belts out the special song that he wanted to play tonight as he proposed.  Suddenly the chords sound more like the sound of bitter disappointment than a love song.

Sims 3: The Deans (part 14)

Antwain wakes up from a sleep plagued with dreams.
Lately, the majority of his thoughts have centered around his career and relationship with Tania.  He loves them both, but something is not syncing.
As the warm steamy water cascades down his body, clearing his mind, he realizes exactly what he needs to do.
He’ll propose to Tania…very soon, maybe even tonight.
Antwain grabs a breakfast smoothie, but can barely taste it’s contents as his mind weaves out plans for his proposal to Tania.  He affirms and dismisses ideas as quickly as fluctuating stock prices.  This proposal has to be perfect.
On his way to work, his mind still making plans, Antwain asks the carpool driver for her opinion of some of his plans.  “I would be in heaven if my man planned as carefully as you are.  This must be a very special woman,” she answers.
“Special indeed,” Antwain thinks as he rushes to work, planning his outfit for tonight’s proposal.
Tania wakes up to a very exciting opportunity a few hours later.  An editor for National Simographic, a very successful magazine, wants her to do a photographic exposé of the secret underground passages in France.  She quickly accepts and is scheduled to fly to France tonight.
Tania’s excitement tapers when she remembers that she’ll have to tell Antwain.  He may not be so happy that she would have to leave right away to take advantage of this opportunity.
While cracking an egg for her pancakes, she thinks about what being in this relationship might mean for her career.  Can she balance Antwain and a career as a successful photographer?
If not, which should she choose?  Her heart breaks slightly, because she realizes that if it came down to it, there is no choice.  Her heart has centered around photography for as long as she can remember.
If for some reason, Antwain did not want her to go, she knows that she would anyway.  Even if it costs her the relationship.
She feels sick just thinking about it.  Her prayer is that it doesn’t come to that.
Suddenly Tania’s perfect pancakes are about as appetizing as a plate of tire rubber.  Her stomach is too full of anxiety, excitement and more anxiety.
She washes the uneaten pancakes down the drain, knowing there’s no place for them right now.  She needs to get out of the house to think.
Tania hops in her car and takes a few spins around the block to build up her courage while waiting for Antwain to arrive home.
Meanwhile, Antwain arrives home with flawless plans for the perfect proposal in mind.

Sims 3: The Deans (part 13)

Now that Tania has her father’s blessing, she feels more comfortable developing her relationship with Antwain.
Warm left-over Stu’s Surprise awaits her as she begins her day.
Tania’s first task is to finish her latest painting to sell at the consignment shop.  Her photography skill is off the charts, now she wants her painting skill to catch up.
Tania finishes her painting just as Antwain leaves for work.
She heads to town to find subjects needed to finish her many photo collections.
As evening approaches, Tania returns home to begin a new painting.  She stares at the blank canvas looking for inspiration among its white slightly raised texture.
Antwain, looking to get to know as many people in town as possible, heads out to the local bar for an evening of socializing.
He hops on his scooter hoping that there will be plenty of people at the bar to hang out with.
Upon his arrival, he spots Tania’s mother Bianca.
He spends a few amusing moments chatting with Bianca, secretly looking forward to developing a friendship with his future mother-in-law.
To Antwain’s delight, Riverview’s lone bar is filled with patrons; there’s plenty of people for him to converse with.
He starts out playing a bit of foosball with an older gentleman.  Antwain makes small talk, careful to avoid any controversial topics. He wants to make a good impression with everyone he meets.
After a few rounds, Antwain decides to check out what the fully stocked bar has to offer.
Looking to make friends with the locals, he orders a round of drinks for everyone.
Antwain is not sure whether he should grab a drink himself.  If he wants to succeed in politics, he doesn’t want people to think of him as a lush…
…but he doesn’t want to seem like a prude either.  He plays it safe by grabbing a drink and taking just a few sips.
Tania gets a good start on her painting and is just about to get ready for bed, when Antwain calls her cell asking her to join him at the bar.
“Sure, sounds like fun!”  She agrees.
Antwain enjoys an order of nachos, while the patrons enjoy their free drinks.
Tania walks into the bar and is immediately asked to dance by a guy on the dance floor.  She doesn’t want to be rude, so she does a few moves with him before politely excusing herself.
There are a few male eyes migrating towards Tania.  Antwain notices, but forces himself to ignore it.  He realizes that Tania is very attractive and is bound to attract a lot of male attention.  Besides that, jealousy was never his thing.
The few sips at the bar were just enough to loosen him up a bit.  Any shyness he may have felt has been washed away, so he hops up on the small stage in the corner and plays a few blues chords on his guitar.
Tania is drawn to the bar.  She’s never had the opportunity to try a drink before, so she welcomes the chance to further veer away from her parent’s protective grasp.
She watches, mesmerized, as the drink sizzles and fizz in front of her.
She tastes the warm liquid.  As the drink burns down her throat she knows that she may have discovered just what she’s always needed to wash away the seed of pressure that was planted in her by her father since she was very little…the pressure to always be the best.
One drink is not enough, so she orders and gulps down a second. She soon discovers that her exhaustion along with the drink makes her dizzy, but she’s never felt more grown-up, alive and …free.
The euphoric feeling doesn’t last very long, she experiences a buzz crash quickly.  Maybe it’s time for her to get home?
She pulls the covers back supporting herself by leaning her thighs on the bed.  If only she could keep the good feeling that drinking provides her without the side effects.
She quickly falls asleep.  Antwain arrives home soon after and joins her.
