Sims 3 The Wards (part 36)

Miles arrives home from work with Sephora’s concern for Zawadi still on his mind.  He feels bad that he sort of blew her off.  He makes up his mind to take time to really listen next time she brings it up.

He quietly cracks open Zawadi’s door and peers in at her.  She looks so sweet sleeping peacefully.

He lies down next to his sleeping wife; falling asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow.

It’s another lonely morning for Zawadi. Her parents are still asleep as she heads to the bathroom for a shower.

She doesn’t have much time to dwell on it.  As soon as she is done showering, she hears the bus pull up. 

Zawadi sits back in the seat, feeling grumpy.  If I didn’t have to go to school, I could be with daddy, she says to herself.

She hops off the bus and reluctantly walks to school, blaming school for not being able to see her father enough.

Miles jumps up soon after; glancing at the time on his cell phone.  He is disappointed that he overslept and did not wake up in time to see Zawadi off to school.

He grabs a quick breakfast.  As he eats, Sephora joins him, but neither of them bring up Zawadi.  Miles has an opportunity to play an office party, but he’s determined to come home early and spend time with his daughter.

Sephora greets Zawadi as soon as she gets home, “How was school?”

“Ok,” Zawadi answers, but Sephora is not convinced.

She decides to drop the subject, “I was on my way to the consignment shop to sell my statue.  Do you want to come?”

“Can I stay here?” Zawadi asks.

Sephora takes a close look at Zawadi and notices that she looks exhausted. “Did you get any sleep last night?”

“I think so, but I still feel tired.”

“Go and lie down on your bed for a while.  I’ll be right back.”

Zawadi follows her mother’s instructions and before she knows it, she is fast asleep.

Sephora hops on her bike.  She needs to get to the consignment shop quickly before it closes.  She also wants to get back to Zawadi.  She doesn’t like the idea of leaving her at the house alone.

Although she’s in a hurry, she savors the moment; enjoying the warm island breeze as it brushes across her skin.  She cannot resist the urge to smile each time she gets a chance to ride her bike.

She arrives at the consignment shop right on time.  The store cashier is pleased to see another one of her creations.  “Your statues are in demand!” She says; praising Sephora’s work.

While Sephora is still at the consignment shop, Miles makes his way to the business building to play at the company party.

He decides that he will play just a few sets, before he heads home to spend time with his family.

Zawadi wakes from her nap, feeling a little better.  Maybe I can sneak in some TV time before mommy gets home, she thinks to herself.

Sims 3 The Wards (part 35)

Zawadi leaves her room and re-enters the kitchen.  Sephora is so deep in thought, that she doesn’t even realize that Zawadi is there.

Sephora is afraid that Zawadi is feeling the effects of being an only child; something that she can definitely relate to, as an only child herself.

The problem is that Miles never wanted children.  How could she even mention another child, without putting him on edge?

Sephora turns and is startled to see Zawadi standing behind her.  “Zawadi, you scared me!  What are you doing up?”

“I’m sorry mommy!”

“I wanted you to read me a bedtime story,” Zawadi continues.

As Sephora is about to answer, she feels a wave of nausea. She takes a moment to catch her breathe, “Go back to bed, I’ll be there in a moment,” she answers holding back her feelings of sickness.

As Zawadi returns to her room, Sephora rushes to the bathroom just in time. 

She flushes the toilet; feeling mixed feelings.  Could she be pregnant again?  Or did the sushi get to her?  If it’s the former, how would Miles react?

Another child would be great for Zawadi, but what would it do for her marriage?  Sephora never knew that things could become so complicated when it comes to the well-being of her child.

Sephora grabs a book off of Zawadi’s desk and sits down on the bed, where Zawadi is patiently waiting for her story.

Zawadi tries to stay awake, but the soothing sound of her mother’s voice slowly lulls her to sleep.  She fights to keep her heavy eyelids open.

Sephora notices that Zawadi is fighting sleep. She helps her along by lowering her voice even further.

Zawadi opens her eyes one last time, but there is no use…

…her head falls back with a soft thump and she is fast asleep.  Sephora tucks her in, kisses her softly on the forehead and leaves the room.

Sephora stands next to Zawadi’s door, once again deep in thought.  One particular thought crosses her mind, although it scares her, …please let me be pregnant, she thinks to herself, afraid to say it out loud.

Sims 3 The Wards (part 34)

First chapter featuring the Generations expansion pack!

Zawadi wakes up the next morning and gets ready for school.  She really does like school, but just cannot understand why she always ends up staring out of the window daydreaming or doodling when her teacher is teaching.

Once again, she is the first up.  Times like this, she really wishes she had someone to play with.  Mornings can be so lonely.

Zawadi makes herself a bowl of cereal.  She pauses when she hears someone moving around in her parent’s room.  This means that one of them is awake early this morning.  She really hopes it’s her daddy.

Miles is still sleeping from working late last night.  Sephora gets out of bed.  She wants to make sure that Zawadi does not try to leave for school without her signed note to her teacher.

Zawadi is still eating breakfast when Sephora enters the room.

The school bus arrives.  “Don’t forget to give that note to your teacher!”  Sephora reminds Zawadi.

Sephora begins preparing organic waffles for breakfast; praying that Zawadi has a better day at school.

Miles and Sephora are at the table eating their waffles. “I’m concerned about Zawadi,” Sephora begins.  “Her teacher says that she’s distracted at school.  When I asked Zawadi about it, she only wanted to know where you were.”

“Zawadi knows that I work late.  That was her attempt at avoiding the subject.  Can we talk about this later?  I’m due at the park,” Miles answers.

Miles leaves for work on his bike; amused at how Zawadi seems to be able to easily manipulate Sephora. He reminds himself to talk to Zawadi about that soon.

Zawadi arrives home from school.  She sees that her mother is very busy, but apparently not too busy to ask her about school.  “Any notes from your teacher?”

“No mommy,” Zawadi answers.

Zawadi finds that she is happiest when painting at her easel.

Sephora finishes another sculpture and stands back admiring her work.  This one should bring in a lot of money, she thinks to herself.

As the sun sets, Zawadi puts finishing touches on her painting.

Sephora prepares her sculpture to be sold at the consignment shop.  Then she goes to work preparing sushi for dinner. 

It’s almost too dark to see when Zawadi finally finishes her painting.  If only she could spend her days creating rather than sitting in the classroom listening to her boring teacher.

Sephora and Zawadi sit down for yet another dinner alone without Miles.  Sephora cannot help but think about how Miles being gone so much must affect Zawadi.

“Remember when you asked me about daddy yesterday?  You asked me where he was…you do know that daddy wants to be here with us but he has to work so we can have food to eat.”

“I know mommy.”


“Well…why did you ask me that?”

Zawadi stops and thinks for a moment.  “No reason,” she says.  “I just miss him sometimes.”

“Me too,” Sephora admits.


“Can I go to bed now?” Zawadi asks, suddenly feeling very tired.

Sephora excuses Zawadi; admitting to herself that it does feel lonely around the house without Miles there.

Zawadi peers out of her bedroom, hoping that she hasn’t made her mother sad by asking about her dad so much.
