Ethan would really like to have some of his birthday cake, but his mother seemed very upset, so he decides to just do what she said.
Lexus cleans up Ethan’s accident. Terrance looks on, but doesn’t make any further comments.
Ethan goes into the bathroom and runs his bath water. His wet pants are making him very uncomfortable and he can’t wait to get them off.
He sits in the tub, but doesn’t bother washing off. Instead he splashes the water.
Then he gets the idea to pretend to be in a submarine. “Captain, an enemy warship is fast approaching. Should we submerge?”
“No! We’ll take them on!” He says in a deeper voice. He splashes the water to represent the enemy bombs hitting the water. “Boom! Boom! Boom!” He calls out with each splash.
Terrance and Lexus decide to wait on Ethan before cutting the cake. Terrance takes care of the trash, while Lexus takes a few moments to pull herself together.
“Captain, I think we’ve destroyed the enemy!” Ethan says triumphantly, right before getting out of the tub.
After his bath, Ethan momentarily forgets about his birthday cake. Instead he heads up to the attic to avoid his mother.
In the attic, he sees a table with a bunch of strange vials and tubes.
He knows that he probably should not touch anything, but he can’t resist trying out some of the things he sees there on the table. He puts on the white coat and goggles that are hanging close by and proceeds to mix some of the chemicals, checking for reactions.
Feeling satisfied with his exploration of the table, he remembers that there’s cake waiting for him downstairs.
The family reconvenes down in the kitchen. Terrance looks up at Lexus, expecting her to apologize. She avoids his angry eyes.
Just as she and Ethan sit down, she decides that an apology is in order, “Ethan, mommy is sorry that she yelled. Everyone has accidents and mommy over reacted.”
“It’s OK mommy,” Ethan says, happy that his mother is no longer upset with him.
Ethan eats his birthday cake, which tastes even better than it looks.
Upstairs, Joshua is entertaining himself by hiding in the toy box.
Terrance enters the room and lifts him up to get him ready for bed.
Ethan climbs up to the top bunk of his new big boy bed that he’ll one day be sharing with Joshua.
Joshua is changed and dressed. Terrance places him in his crib.
