Lexus catches up on sleep with thoughts of Terrance dominating her dreams.
She dreams of the thief, but in her dream, Terrance is her knight in shining armor; chasing the thief away each time he tries to invade her dreams.
It is late in the morning before Lexus wakes up.
As soon as she steps out of the shower, Terrance calls to check up on her. “I wanted to return to you last night, but I guess you were sleeping so hard that you didn’t hear your cell phone.”
“I’m so sorry. I was sleeping, but don’t worry, you were with me in my dreams all night.”
“Lexus, meet me at the Bistro in an hour. We can head to city hall for our marriage license and you can be my wife before the end of the day.”
“Wow. Is that all we have to do? We’re really going to do this!”
“Wow. Is that all we have to do? We’re really going to do this!”
They say their goodbyes. Lexus is anxious to be getting married today. She thinks of calling her mom, but she doesn’t want to hear her mom say that they are rushing things. This is a decision that she wants to make on her own.
She goes outside to take her clothes off the line with her mom in mind. She knows that Mercedes is going to be very upset that she didn’t get to plan Lexus’ wedding and design her dress.
The thoughts continue as she hops in the cab to meet Terrance at the Bistro.
Realizing that her mother is the only reservation that Lexus has about marrying Terrance today, she easily puts it out of her mind. Love comes first today, she tells herself.
Terrance is waiting for her at the Bistro when she arrives.
“I thought maybe we could grab breakfast before we do this, but I forgot that the Bistro doesn’t open for 30 more minutes. Do you want to head to city hall or wait?” Terrance asks when he sees her.
“I’m too nervous to eat anyway. Let’s just go to city hall.”
Lexus’ phone rings just as they start to leave the Bistro. She is relieved that it’s not her mother. Instead it’s her half-brother Clark.
Lexus gives him a brief explanation of what happened to her the night before and lets him in on her plans to marry. Clark is happy for her. “Terrance is a great dude. You two make a terrific couple!” Clark tells her. Lexus is happy to have her big brother’s approval.
Just as Terrance and Lexus arrive at City Hall, her cell phone rings again. This time it is her mom.
Lexus pauses and considers answering it, but she doesn’t want her mother lecturing her and ruining her plans. “Not right now mom,” Lexus says, deciding not to answer her phone.
Lexus and Terrance enter city hall…
…both looking forward to beginning their future together.
