After being away from Zawadi all day, Sephora missed her little bundle. Miles did a great job caring for Zawadi on his own.
Sephora puts Zawadi in her crib and goes to bed. Late in night, unknown to the Wards, their house is haunted by the ghost of a previous resident.
This particular spirit seems to like Sephora’s salads.
He soundlessly creeps into Zawadi’s room. He hovers over her crib, but doesn’t harm her.
Sephora and Miles, deep in sleep, don’t notice the slight change in temperature and or hear the death breaths of this restless spirit.
The spirit winds the music box next to the bed and spends time listening to the music. Miles and Sephora barely stir.
No… the only thing that wakes Miles and Sephora up are Zawadi’s cries the next morning.
While Sephora tends to Zawadi, Miles cleans up the kitchen, including a dirty plate that he doesn’t remember leaving out.
Sephora, feeling refreshed after her day off, is happy to see Zawadi’s sweet little face this morning.
To add to her joy, today is Zawadi’s birthday.
Miles, having taken to heart what Sephora said about helping out more, gathers ingredients and attempts to make waffles.
So far, so good.
Sephora, surprised that Miles is actually going to cook, sits and waits patiently.
Miles tried, but the waffles didn’t come out so good.
Miles is so hungry that he sits and eats them anyway. Sephora just looks them over for a while.
Sephora sits down with her waffles, asking herself how she’s going to manage to keep them down.
After she finally manages to eat the burnt waffles, Sephora heads out to her garden. The Wards savings account has been depleted with the new room addition, so Miles would really like to go out and perform for tips, but he wants to check to see if Sephora can manage alone with Zawadi.
For a brief moment, Mile’s mind wanders back to that plate that he found on the table this morning. Strange…he knows that Sephora would never leave a plate out dirty like that and he’s sure that he didn’t leave it out.
Miles checks on Sephora and she lets him know that she’s got it covered today.
Sephora hugs Miles tight and thanks him for listening to her concerns and taking care of Zawadi all day on his day off.
“I’m her father,” he answers, “I just did what I was supposed to do.”
Sephora returns to her garden and Miles leaves to play guitar in the park.
Miles is happy to be back in the park playing his guitar. After the day he had yesterday, he knows that he could never do what Sephora does all day, every day.
Zawadi is crying again. Sephora scoops her out of the crib and gives her some much needed attention.
Once Zawadi is happy again, Sephora turns on her music box for her to enjoy. The music calms Zawadi and makes her smile.
Sephora begins a new ice sculpture.
Miles leaves the park to go to work at the theater.
It doesn’t take long before Sephora is too tired to work on her sculpture.
She sits for a while to enjoy the view that made her fall in love with this house.
Sephora enjoys a gorgeous sunset…
…before fatigue begins to set in.
Sephora is glad that she took this call. A local business is requesting a stone sculpture for their lobby. Sephora is more than happy to take their offer.
Just as Sephora feels that she can’t get anymore excited, her precious little Zawadi begins to age up.
