Miles is up early the next morning. He decides to let Sephora sleep in while he attends to Zawadi, who is wide awake in the next room.
Zawadi has been up for a while, playing in her crib.
She squeals in excitement when she sees Miles.
Miles tries to put her down, but Zawadi immediately starts crying.
She wants to be close to her daddy.
Miles manages to keep Zawadi distracted long enough to take a shower. After he gets dressed, he sits Zawadi in her high chair for breakfast.
Sephora wakes up and gets dressed. She is pleased to see that Miles has already made sure that Zawadi has her breakfast.
Sephora heads out to her garden.
Sephora’s not happy to see that some of her plants are wilting.
Zawadi is already showing a bit of interest in music. Out of all of her toys, she gravitates towards the xylophone.
Miles leaves the house to play in the park for tips. He is developing quite a female following.
Sephora takes extra time in her garden nursing her plants back to health.
Zawadi, who also loves the outdoors, crawls out to join her mother.
Zawadi is happy to be outside feeling the warm ocean breeze. The wind tickles her cheeks, making her smile.
Sephora watches her daughter, completely understanding how she feels when outside.
To make things even better, there’s another xylophone outside for Zawadi to play with. Now she can feel the breeze and make music.
Sephora has another sculpture to sell at the consignment shop. This one is ice, so she must bear another unpleasant trip in a taxi to get to the shop before the sculpture melts.
Sephora arrives at the consignment shop in a sour mood. She wishes that she had a better way to get around town with Zawadi.
Sephora’s mood doesn’t improve much until she returns home and witnesses Zawadi’s first steps. Her baby is slowly growing up.
Sephora is starving and the left-overs in the refrigerator has gone bad. She’s forced to prepare a meal.
The good news is, her cooking skills are improving.
Sephora is proud of her unburnt mac & cheese.
Sephora processes some of the mac and cheese for Zawadi. While preparing Zawadi’s meal, Sephora’s stomach does an uneasy flip and she senses that there is something behind her, but she is afraid to look over her shoulder.
Miles arrives home after Sephora and Zawadi has finished eating. Miles attempts to give Sephora a kiss, but Sephora isn’t in the mood. She is a bit freaked out.
Miles wants to know what is bothering her, but she is not sure she wants to tell him. He may think that she’s just being neurotic.
The fact is, during dinner, Sephora detected a strange presence in her kitchen. She could feel a slight breeze as she sat down at the table and the hairs on the back of her neck began to rise. Zawadi also seemed to sense something because she whined the whole time.
Miles would have believed her if she had told him. He has often felt similar things late at night…a strange breeze and the feeling of being stared at by some unseen presence.
That very night, as Miles walks out to empty the trash, he swears that Sephora’s bike has supernaturally risen from the ground a few feet -behind his back.
But then again, he is extremely sleepy, and he just doesn’t want to trust his eyes or the chill running down his spine.
As Sephora enters the bedroom that night, she sees a shadow out of the corner of her eye and can smell a slight stench…but briefly. No…it couldn’t be what she thinks it is.
The Ward’s silent visitor gets to enjoy the Ward’s home at night…
…while the Wards spend the night denying everything that their senses are telling them. They are denying that their home may be haunted by a previous resident.
