Spencer wants Rena to meet his father and his half-brothers, so they get into his truck and head over there soon after she tells him the news.
They arrive at the Pratt/English house, where Spencer’s half-brother Nicky greets him. “How’s it going bro?”
“What’s up Nick? My wife Rena and I have good news to share. Is dad here?”
“No, he’s working.” Nicky answers. “Come on in and tell us the good news.”
encer lets his brothers in on the news of he and Rena expecting a child. Amos reacts with indifference.
Seneca doesn’t look very happy. He wants to get to know Spencer better, but he knows that with a new child on the way, Spencer will be very busy.
Only Nicky is happy to hear the news. “Alright bro! I’m going to be an uncle!”
Rena greets Nicky and he congratulates her.
“Hey I came by your house the day after your wedding, but you were napping.” Seneca tells Spencer.
“Sorry I missed you. Don’t be a stranger lil bro, come by at any time.”
Rena introduces herself to Amos, Spencer’s youngest half brother. He giggles looking at her tummy. “How can a baby fit in there?”
Rena is not sure if it’s appropriate to get into this with him. “Well, the baby is small right now.” She answers leaving it at that and hoping he won’t ask any more questions.
Spencer bores Seneca with talk about himself and his job. Seneca looks for a reason to excuse himself from Spencer’s rambling.
Rena sits on the couch, hoping that Spencer will be ready to leave soon. She doesn’t want to be rude, but she is ready to eat.
Spencer is finally ready to leave, he takes his hungry wife to the local diner for a bite to eat.
While Spencer and Rena are eating out, Sarah sits in her cottage feeling a bit stir crazy. She needs to get out of the house.
She borrows Candy’s car and heads to the bookstore.
Sarah longs to get a few new recipe books now that her cooking level has improved.
Sarah buys three new recipes and finds a bench away from the crowd and begins to learn how to prepare cheese steak.
Gwen is at the dinner table doing her homework when Candy sits down for dinner.
“Did you hear about the new addition to the family?”
“What new addition?” Gwen asks with an idea of what Candy is talking about.
“Rena’s pregnant,” Candy says. When Gwen doesn’t respond, Candy asks, “did you eat dinner yet?”
“Are we sure that we want a youngling running around the house?” Gwen asks ignoring Candy’s question.
“Of course we do Gwen!” Candy says ignoring Gwen’s melancholy mood.
Gwen is not very excited about the new baby, so Candy chooses to change the subject. “Aren’t you tired of riding around on that old scooter? Let’s go car shopping tomorrow!” Candy says. “I’m excited about the new baby and ready to spend money!”
“I like my scooter.” Gwen says with a flat affect.
Candy changes the subject one more time. “So are there any cute boys at school that have caught your attention?”
“Uh, can we continue this later? This assignment is driving me nuts.” Candy, having been a grumpy teen herself, understands Gwen’s sour mood and leaves her alone.
