When the crowd has finally dispersed, Gwen spends a few moments in the hot tub before work.
Her boss has insisted that she take a few days off, but she’d rather be working than risk another confrontation with Spencer.
Spencer goes to Candy’s computer to go over her financial affairs.
He finds that Candy has already taken care of everything. All of her properties are in Spencer’s name; ready for him to take it all over.
Chelsea wakes from her nap in need of a diaper change.
Spencer takes care of her needs and places her back in her crib.
His phone rings as he enters the kitchen. It’s his boss, Alex Proctor, calling to offer his condolences. “Candy kept us out of the red several times. She will be missed,” Alex says.
Alex continues, “I also wanted to give you the heads up that we have been looking at you for a promotion. We look forward to experiencing your leadership and at the rate your moving up in the company, we have every confidence that you will be as great as your mother.”
“Thank you sir,” Spencer says before they end the call. This call is just what he needed to further lift his spirits. He knows his mother would have been proud.
Sarah returns to the kitchen when she is sure that the crowd is completely gone. She stays up late in the night studying a few new recipes.
Rena is also up late at night, but something else is keeping her up…
In all of her grief, Rena neglected to pay attention to her expanding waist line. Suddenly it is obvious that she is expecting another child.
Tears of joy replace the tears of mourning. She knows that Spencer will be very pleased.
Right on cue, Rena can hear Chelsea whining in the other room.
Chelsea is up ready to play. Rena gladly obliges her with kisses to the tummy.
While preparing to put Chelsea to bed, Rena receives an unexpected phone call from Candy’s cousin Nakida.
“I just wanted to let you know, after I left the funeral, I ended up checking myself into the hospital…I’m not well. I’m telling you, but please spare my cousin Spencer the news. He’s been through enough.”
Rena ends the call with Nakida and places Chelsea in the crib. She knows that Nakida is right, Spencer could not bare any more tragedy.
She returns to her bedroom and watches Spencer as he sleeps. She knows that Nakida doesn’t have much time, but she will not tell Spencer. Tomorrow, she will only give him her good news.
