Mercedes Price is becoming sort of a celebrity around town. Her stylist career has thrived and she often works late into the night coming up with new designs.
Yet another job completed, and Mercedes’ savings account is benefiting from all the client work.
Mercedes is very good at soliciting new clients for her services.
She gives each client a clear picture of the style that she’s planning for them.
And they usually leave very happy with their makeover.
Lexus is finally making friends at school. Here she goes home with her friend Terrance after school.
After leaving her friend’s house, Lexus decides to pay her half-brother Clark a visit.
She has no idea that her father Kamal works at the fire station right next door to Clark’s house.
Lexus compliments Clark’s home and he asks her about school.
Clark is happy to see her and she is more than thrilled to have a big brother that cares about her. She invites him to her upcoming birthday party.
Lexus debates on whether or not she wants to ask Clark to tell her more about her father Kamal, whom she still hasn’t met.
She decides to tell him about school instead. She tells him about the friends that she has made in school.
Lexus also reveals to Clark that she’s been having problems with her math homework and he agrees to help her with it.
The next day is Lexus’ birthday. Mercedes comes home early to prepare food for the party.
One of Lexus’ school friends arrive at the party early.
Mercedes finishes grilling hot dogs as guests continue to arrive.
Everyone gathers around as Lexus ages up to a teen. Her mother is front and center to celebrate with her.
As Lexus starts to age up, she notices a man that she has never seen before. Could this be her father?
Lexus is now a teen and Mercedes has a big surprise for her.
She introduces Lexus to her father Kamal Campbell.
Initially Lexus does not know what to think of him.
Everyone watches in anticipation of Lexus’ reaction to meeting her father.
She searches her mind for something to say to this man that has caused her so much pain. The only thing that she can think to ask is, “where have you been all of this time?”
Lexus is surprised by the anger that swells up inside of her.
She angrily waits for an answer.
Kamal tries his best to explain why he has been an absentee father for so long. Lexus is not impressed by his explanation.
Kamal tells Lexus that he has always thought about her, but he was very busy with his career and was not sure that Mercedes would allow him to visit.
He also tells her that he would like to be in her life now.
She gives this some thought. Part of her feels it’s too late for her father to decide to be in her life, but the pained little girl inside of her still longs for him.
Mercedes’ boyfriend, Notzo, is not too happy about the whole scenario between Lexus and Kamal. Lexus notices, but she doesn’t care what he thinks. She never liked him much anyway.
Lexus decides that she would like to get to know her father and have him be a part of her life.
The mood lightens up and Lexus and her father get the opportunity to have a long awaited conversation.
No longer distracted by Lexus & Kamal, Mercedes notices Penny pushing up on her new boyfriend Notzo.
Mercedes immediately moves in to set her straight. A quick insult seems to get the job done.
Just then, Lexus’ brother Clark arrives.
Clark wishes his little sister a happy birthday. Lexus is happy with the events that have unfolded on her birthday and having her big brother & father there just makes it all complete. She couldn’t be happier…
Of course, getting a brand new eco-friendly car as a birthday present helps to further her happiness.
