Mercedes is out at the supermarket when her new sister-in-law, Bunny Curious, calls to congratulate Mercedes & her brother Notzo on their marriage and pregnancy.
Mercedes heads home with her purchases. She’s ready to try out her new nectar machine that she purchased while in France.
She adds lime, watermelon and grapes. She changes into her swimwear and begins mashing the fruit.
Whew! Mercedes finds that it’s a lot harder to mash fruit than she expected.
After school, Lexus heads over to her friend Terrance Bull’s house. She’ll rather be anywhere but home right now.
Terrance listens while Lexus describes what her home life has been like lately. Sometimes it seems as if Terrance is the only one that really listens to her.
He listens while she describes how much of a slob her mother’s new husband, Notzo, is.
Terrance even listens to some of Lexus’ biggest secrets without judgment. No wonder he is her best friend.
Lexus really does not want to go home, so she asks Terrance if she could stay over at his place. He tells her that she’s welcome to stay.
While Lexus is at Terrance’s complaining about her home life, Notzo leaves work excited because he has just been promoted to desk jockey at the police station…
…and Mercedes discovers just how exhausting nectar making can be.
Lexus starts on her homework at Terrance’s house..
Notzo arrives home from work and starts working on improving his logic skill, by playing chess on his laptop.
Notzo greets Mercedes and his unborn child as soon as Mercedes comes back into the house from her nectar making.
He gives her the news of his job promotion.
Mercedes is very excited for him and happy that they will be bringing in more money right on time for the new baby. Maybe they can move into a bigger house soon!
“Anything you want,” Notzo says in a warm embrace. Mercedes is so happy in her new marriage.
While Mercedes is happy and in love, Lexus is miserable and finding it hard to concentrate on school.
The only thing that Mercedes is not happy about is what this pregnancy is doing to her body. Her hormones are out of control and her face is breaking out.
“Is that a blemish or a mole!”
Lexus decides to call the only other person that seems to listen to her; her older half-brother Clark.
She announces to Clark that her home life sucks and she’s considering running away to live in the park.
Clark tells her that things won’t be as bad as she thinks they will, but Lexus whines about how she’ll never get sleep again with a new baby in the house.
She goes on to complain about Notzo. Clark doesn’t think he’s that bad, but Lexus feels as if her home life will never be the same again with Notzo living there.
Clark agrees that it won’t be the same, but explains that it might be improved with the additional family members. Lexus considers this once she gets off the phone with Clark. “My home life can’t be worst than living in the park”, she jokes to herself.
Lexus realizes that Clark is right and runs straight home. Her mother must be worried sick about her.
Lexus bursts into the house only to discover that Notzo and Mercedes didn’t even miss her or realize that she wasn’t home yet.
“How can things get better if they don’t even care whether I’m home or not?” Mercedes wonders to herself.
“No one even bothered to make sure I had anything to eat when I got home!” Lexus thinks as she angrily prepares herself some mac & cheese.
Mercedes and Notzo don’t notice Lexus’ bad mood.
They spend a few moments cuddling…
…before they head upstairs to bed...
…leaving Lexus fuming in the kitchen alone.
Lexus sits alone at the dinner table wondering if this is just a prelude of how things will be once the new baby arrives.
