Mercedes arrives at work the next day to see her co-worker Beverly heart broken and out of sorts.
Beverly’s significant other has passed away and Beverly is finding hard to focus on work.
Although Beverly has not always been the nicest person to Mercedes, she decides to let the past be the past and lend Beverly a shoulder to cry on.
Instead of finding comfort in Mercedes’ kind gesture, snobby Beverly proceeds to insult Mercedes.
Mercedes lets Beverly know how insulting and unkind she is being.
Beverly doesn’t exactly apologize, but she does succeed in smoothing things over a bit by engaging Mercedes in some town gossip.
Lexus enjoys her new birthday gift as she heads to the salon after leaving the library where she uses the computer to apply for a part time job. She is hired as a spa specialist.
While at the salon, Lexus decides that it may be a great opportunity to get a new look.
Beverly talks to Lexus about her weight. Up to this point, Lexus always felt that she was pretty fit.
Beverly succeeds in giving Lexus a more grown up look.
But Lexus feels that the look may be a bit old for her.
Lexus has not spoken to her father, Kamal, since the night of her birthday party and decides to give him a call. He cuts the conversation short letting her know that he is on his way out of the door.
Lexus tells her mother about her new part time job and Mercedes goes into a lecture about how much responsibility is involved in working while still in high school.
Lexus tells her mother that she feels she is more than responsible enough to take on a job. She reminds her mother how she helps to keep the house clean. Mercedes is not convinced, but decides to allow Lexus to try working part time.
After she leaves the salon, Lexus decides to stop by her father Kamal’s house for a drop in visit.
It takes a while, but he finally answers the door. Apparently he was in the middle of working out and did not hear the doorbell.
Lexus is shocked at the dilapidated state of Kamal’s house.
Lexus looks around at Kamal’s trophies while Kamal cleans himself up a bit in the bathroom.
She is visibly uncomfortable as she waits for him to finish up in the bathroom.
An awkward silence fills the room as Lexus & Kamal try to figure out what fathers and daughters are supposed to talk about.
Lexus breaks the silence, “I was surprised to catch you at home”.
Kamal tells her about his girlfriend Sophia and about how he spends a lot of his time at her house.
Kamal begins to get fidgety and Lexus stands up to leave apologizing to him for interrupting his workout.
Kamal does not really want Lexus to leave, so he offers to cook dinner for her.
It’s already past her curfew, so Lexus turns him down and rushes home.
The next morning, Mercedes changes her hair style in preparation for what she has planned today.
Since it’s her day off, Mercedes decides to invite Notzo over. she is ready to take their relationship to the next level.
She decides to take the initiative and propose to him.
Notzo is shocked, but he accepts her proposal.
Lexus is not at all happy about her mother marrying Notzo.
Rather than congratulate the two of them, Lexus decides to insult Notzo.
She cruelly mocks him and tells him that he would make a terrible husband. Notzo is taken aback by this.
The relationship between Lexus & Notzo is not off to a good start.
Mercedes is furious at Lexus and lets her know it. She has never been so angry at Lexus’ behavior before.
Lexus is shocked to see Mercedes get so angry.
She immediately apologizes to Notzo. She’s not sorry that she insulted him, but she is sorry that she made her mother so angry.
Mercedes and Notzo both hope that Lexus does not cause problems for their relationship.
Mercedes and Notzo discuss possibilities for their upcoming wedding.
Lexus is not at all happy about her mother marrying Notzo. Looking for any excuse to leave the house, she decides to head to the laundry mat to do some laundry.
Doing the laundry gives Lexus some time to think about the new changes that will soon be taking place in her household.
In the meantime, Mercedes & Notzo get closer.
Afterwards , they reflect on their relationship and decide that Notzo should move in with Mercedes & Lexus.
Lexus heads to the day spa for her first day of work.
While Lexus is working, Notzo moves in.
He also decides that he would like to give Mercedes a vacation, wedding and honeymoon all in one.
Notzo and Mercedes head to France.
Mercedes is saddened that Lexus was not able to join them on the trip because of her new job. Notzo reminds her that Lexus is there in spirit and moves in to comfort her.
Mercedes enlists some help from locals in town to help her and Notzo chose the best spot in France to get married. She is looking forward to a beautiful wedding in the country known for romance. Love is in the air!!
